Mr. Vastola needed shutters for his lumber barn. He wanted something
simple and "country" in style. A traditional Crossbuck single swing
barn shutter was recommended to meet his style and budget. The three
horse stall shutters on the right side are "reverse fascia" meaning
the "x" shows when the barn shutter is in the open position. This is
usually chosen when the owner intends to keep the panel open most of
the time. The barn shutter on the left end is not "reversed fascia"
so; the "x" shows when the shutter is in the closed position. Because
this end shutter is to the tack and feed room, Mr. Vastola thought it
best to keep this barn shutter closed a majority of the time.
